The Fortress of Deception - Breaking Down Self-Made Lies

"Lies don't stay small - they become strongholds."
- Diary of a Troubled Preacher
Long before I ever stood behind a pulpit, I became an expert at lying to myself. I convinced myself that as long as the anointing was flowing and lives were being touched, God must be fine with my private compromises. I built a fortress out of excuses, brick by brick, until I was completely imprisoned by my own deception.
Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 10:4 - 5 that strongholds are arguments set up against God's truth. I had built one around my true identity. Lies may sustain a double life for a season; just as partial obedience sustained King Saul or strength masked Samson's compromises, eventually, truth tears every lie down. Freedom didn't begin when I tried harder; it began when I stopped lying to myself.
Reflection for Readers
What lie have you believed about your own habits or choices that has made compromise seem acceptable? Write it down and measure it against God’s Word.
Closing Thought
You cannot heal what you continue to justify. Break the lie before the stronghold breaks you.
